Her father was THAT Haas? I used t listen to him, always opening his show with the slow movement of Beethoven's Pathetique sonata, which, when I was in high school, was the most utterly romantic thing I had ever heard. Was his name Karl? Oh gosh, Carol, what on earth took you away?
Sad, sad news..... Carol was a wonderful, warm girl in our Mumford class....
Not to distract from the very sad news, and I certainly don't know, but it IS possible that Dr. Karl Hass may have been her father.... He fled the Nazis and settled in Detroit in 1944, so the timing is possible that he had a daughter in 1945 in Detroit. Dr. Haas started the Chamber Orchestra Society of Detroit; he did his music lecture series from the Detroit Public Library which later became his "Adventures in Good Music" series broadcast on WJR in Detroit before national syndication.... The years my brother Philip was assistant conductor of The Detroit Symphony Orchesta, Dr. Hass was on the Board of Directors of the Symphony and Philip knew him and worked with him for years.... So, maybe...?! Anyway, it'd be nice to find that out and I send deepest sympathies to her family..... Maybe someone will see this and find out.... Marty
For some reason I often wondered what happened to Carol. We hung out together but not until 12th grade. She was on the missing list for the class for a long time. I am sorry to hear of her passing and send my condolences

I had a crush on Carol at Mumford. What a lovely girl in high school. Her dad was a famous musician who did shows on Public TV.
So sorry to hear about her. What happened?

Carol's father owned and operated a florist shop. He was NOT the Karl Haas who was the music legend in Detroit.

I am so saddened to hear about Carol. She was such a lovely and friendly person. May she forever be a blessing.
Carol"s father was not Karl Haas. I studied piano with him for years and knew his wife and children.
