I wasn't in your graduating class because I took summer school in the 6th grade, therefore , I graduated in 62.

Our Message Forum has been very active with memories of our Mumford years, feelings about teachers ( good, bad or indifferent), fun times,  Vietnam War stories,  places we went to back in the day, etc. I encourage your wonderful class to use your Message Forum to connect and reconnect. All of these experiences made us who we are today.

Happy and Healthy New Year to everyone.  I was wondering if everyone knew about the meeting this Monday, Jan.12 at 7pm concerning the closing of the JCC of Oak Park.  A big turnout would be appreciated for support.  I still use it with my grandchildren, and it would be a shame to lose it.  I know that the JCC of West Bloomfield offer many classes, swimming and so on, but (in my opinion only) I  don't think the people of HW, Oak Park, Southfield, Berkley, Royal Oak, would always want to drive to West Bloomfield.  What would the people in the Federation Apt do, they count on the JCC for many activites, or just friendship.  Come out Monday and support our JCC, Oak Park

Thanks for listening

Adding my voice to Marlene's.  Those of us in the Oak Park-Southfield area need the JCC to remain here.  It's hard to understand how the leadership can say they are not abandoning us and care about our community when they've already made up their collective minds to close down.

I'm not part of the Huntington Woods/Oak Park/Southfield community but I can appreciate the severity of the problem. I also read that the Jimmy Prentis Morris annual deficit of $1,000,000 is bascially the deficit of the entire JJC. I also don't know the demographics of who actually uses the JPM facility and programming but is their another organization or community that could be a "partner?" There are many Jewish communities with small populations in other states; what do they do? Cities like Indianapolis, Denver, Birmingham, Alabama come to mind.
